About ThedaCare

Position Overview:
The Advanced Radiologic Technologist is responsible for executing diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations on a diverse patient population. This role involves assessing image quality and adhering to established radiation safety protocols.

  • Engages in holiday rotation with fellow technologists

  • Specialty areas including NICU, Pediatrics, General Surgery, Neurology, Urology, Podiatry, Orthopedics, Wound Care, Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Long-Term Rehabilitation services for Stroke and Trauma, Physical and Occupational Therapy, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Hematology, and Cancer Care services
  • Involves general diagnostic, fluoroscopic, trauma, and surgical procedures
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Demonstrates proficiency in equipment operation and safety protocols across various departments including interventional radiology, surgery, emergency services, and outpatient procedures.

2. Exhibits the necessary knowledge and skills to perform all radiology procedures according to established protocols, adjusting techniques based on patient requirements, including critical or emergency situations. Collaborates with healthcare providers as necessary.

3. Provides practical training for students and other healthcare professionals.

4. Utilizes critical thinking skills to ensure accuracy in patient triage and prioritization.

5. Completes documentation promptly and accurately in accordance with departmental policies, including proper image management and documentation in electronic medical records.

6. Adheres to safety standards at all times, including ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles for radiation safety for both team members and patients, employing mobilization and immobilization techniques, and following infection control practices.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED

• Graduate of an accredited radiography program

• ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association

• Valid Wisconsin license

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform physical activities including standing, walking, bending, pushing, and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds without assistance

• Job may involve exposure to bloodborne pathogens while performing duties

Work Environment:

• Frequent exposure to sharp instruments and objects

• Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, and electrical hazards

• Possible exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials

• Interaction with patients who may be aggressive or combative
