Role Summary:

Join Apple's dynamic Wireless Connectivity Silicon team, where innovation meets cutting-edge technology. Our organization focuses on comprehensive wireless silicon development, emphasizing energy-efficient designs and groundbreaking technologies that enhance user experiences. This role is pivotal within a vertically integrated engineering team that encompasses RF/Analog architecture, Systems/PHY/MAC design, VLSI/RTL integration, Emulation, Design Verification, Testing, and Firmware/Software engineering.

In this influential position, you will play a crucial role in a silicon design group that significantly impacts the delivery of functional wireless products to a vast customer base.

Your primary responsibility will be to design and implement embedded firmware for System on Chip (SoC) bring-up and wireless connectivity enablement. You will collaborate closely with product software and manufacturing teams to facilitate RF and PHY calibrations, algorithms, and testing necessary for silicon/system productization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a core member of the Wireless SoC firmware team, focusing on radio and PHY bring-up, RF calibrations, and the implementation of signal processing algorithms.

Develop SoC testing and calibration capabilities for various manufacturing stages.

  • Collaborate with RF/Radio design, Design Verification Testing (DVT), PHY, and System engineering teams to architect and implement innovative algorithms, calibrations, and protocols.
  • Debug real-time systems with limited visibility, engaging hands-on with development boards and laboratory equipment.
  • Support pre-silicon validation efforts, including simulation, emulation, and FPGA prototyping.
  • Assist in post-silicon bring-up, validation, performance characterization, system integration, and debugging.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in embedded firmware development using C and assembly languages, with a solid understanding of ARM CPU architecture.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of embedded wireless communication systems, including Radio and PHY fundamentals and key RF performance metrics.
  • Familiarity with digital signal processing algorithms and low-level hardware interfaces, including register and interrupt programming, bare-metal software development, and power management.
  • Strong grasp of embedded concepts such as Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS), concurrency, and multi-processor systems.
  • Proficient in using laboratory equipment like logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Experience in implementing diagnostics, manufacturing tests, and protocol compliance software.
  • Knowledge of industry standards for wireless communications, including Bluetooth, WLAN, Zigbee, and UWB is advantageous.
  • Proficient in at least one scripting language such as Python, Perl, or Tcl.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Education & Experience:

A Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of relevant industry experience is required. A Master's degree or PhD is preferred.
