At First Student, we're a family of dedicated professionals who share a passion for safety and innovation. As a Diesel Mechanic, you'll play a vital role in maintaining and repairing our fleet of vehicles to ensure they're always ready for the road.
Key Responsibilities- Lead preventative maintenance and safety inspections to ensure vehicle readiness and safety.
- Diagnose and repair complex vehicle and equipment issues, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.
- Collaborate with colleagues to complete work orders accurately and efficiently.
- Participate in mobile emergency services and provide guidance to lower-level technicians.
- Valid driver's license required; willingness to obtain CDL B while employed.
- At least 3 years of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience or technical school education.
- Possess a mechanic's tool set and be willing to participate in the ASE certification program.
- Subject to DOT drug testing and physical.
- $26 - $28 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
- An additional $0.25 per hour for each ASE certification.
- $2,500 sign-on bonus.
- Company-paid ASE testing and training materials.
- Monday-Friday 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM full-time shift schedule and consistent, year-round work.
