Job Summary:The Youth Care Specialist/Worker is responsible for providing counseling, case management, and day-to-day supervision and monitoring of the children in our care. This is a dynamic and rewarding role that requires a strong commitment to working with diverse populations and a passion for making a positive impact in the lives of others.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide Program Orientation and Intake: Welcome new youth to our program and complete intake assessments to ensure a smooth transition.
- Basic Needs Provision: Prepare and supervise meals, provide clothing, hygiene products, and assign bedrooms to ensure the physical and emotional well-being of our youth.
- Monitoring and Supervision: Continuously monitor clothing, shelter supplies, allowances, and trips to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.
- Direct Care Services: Provide direct care services to youth, ensuring ratios and supervision levels are met as per state and federal regulations.
- Planning and Implementation: Plan and implement educational events, acculturation activities, and recreational programs outside the facility to promote youth development and engagement.
- Crisis Intervention: Provide therapeutic care and crisis intervention to special needs youth, adhering to training guidelines and protocols.
- Documentation and Reporting: Accurately document youth behavior and share information with staff to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with staff, residents, service providers, and others to achieve program goals and objectives.
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED and a minimum of one year of employment experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents in a social service setting.
- Cultural Competence: Genuine respect for and interest in children and their families of diverse racial and ethnic identity, with the ability to form a therapeutic relationship.
- Communication Skills: Written and verbal fluency in English, with fluency in Spanish and/or Haitian Creole required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to work with electronic records management systems.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, pull, and carry, with occasional prolonged periods of sitting and standing.
