Job Summary

This position is located at Coalinga State Hospital and reports to the Department of State Hospitals. The Occupational Therapist will assist with the occupational therapy program, planning treatment goals to maintain or improve motivation, work approach, physical or emotional condition by utilizing behavior through the media of industrial arts and handicrafts, teaching self-care activities designed to promote improved mental and physical health, and assisting in planning and supervising the social, recreational, and work activities of patients.

Responsibilities
  • Recruit and supervise a team of occupational therapists to provide high-quality care to patients.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify patient needs and develop strategies for improvement.
  • Provide training and education to patients and their families on self-care activities and techniques.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy or related field.
  • Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of California.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in occupational therapy, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
Working Conditions

The employee is required to work any shift and schedule in a variety of settings throughout the hospital and may be required to work overtime and float to other work locations as determined by the operational needs of the hospital. All employees are required to have an annual health review and repeat health reviews whenever necessary to ascertain that they are free from symptoms indicating the presence of infection and are able to safely perform their essential job duties.
