Capture Manager Job Description
As a Capture Manager at Cherokee Federal, you will be responsible for leading the contract capture process from pre-RFP strategy development through award and launch for key business opportunities. This involves organizing and leading all cross-functional activities required to pursue a business development opportunity and supporting the preparation of a proposal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement bid strategies, keeping senior management briefed on bid progress, and lead complex captures through the proposal contributors across different functions.
- Develop a high "Probability of Win" for selected opportunities and lead customer meetings and approve all customer communications.
- Identify gaps and emerging requirements, perform market and economic analysis, conduct business intelligence, design and execute formal capture plans, and monitor competitor activity for each capture.
- Coordinate pre-proposal and proposal activities with internal partners and major subcontractors or consultants.
- Lead business planning activities, including pipeline reviews, bid agenda development, opportunity gate reviews, and proposal reviews.
- Interact with all levels of management, functional POCs, staff, and customers, and follow through on tasking.
- Conduct after-action reviews for all business opportunity capture participants to document lessons learned and identify necessary adjustments to capture technique, strategy, and actions.
- Participate in bidder conferences, oral presentations, and site surveys.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree and at least 7 years of related experience in business development, account management, or capture management.
- Minimum of 3 years of leading federal contract capture experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in winning large-scale opportunities of at least $100M.
- Knowledge of government and military contracts, GSA, and FAR, with demonstrated ability in implementing the Shipley process.
- Demonstrated business development knowledge, including targeting, opportunity qualifications, capture strategy, customer visits, customer relationship development, and relationship development with partner organizations.
- Proven leadership skills in developing, organizing, and executing significant capture activities, including building industry teams, assessing win probability, and ensuring timely execution of customer call plans.
- Demonstrable understanding of all contract types and payment types.
- Ability to solve complex problems in winning bids and lead geographically dispersed cross-functional teams.
- Ability to use automated tools and applications, such as Salesforce, Microsoft Office, and Teams, to present ideas, information, and reports.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and high business acumen.
- Excellent written communication skills and the ability to present to both small and large groups.
- Active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI.
- Ability to apply advanced training and knowledge in Capture Management and Win Strategies.
