About the Role:
Hand Arendall LLC is seeking a highly motivated and organized Legal Assistant to join our team in the Birmingham office. As a Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to our lawyers and legal staff to ensure smooth and efficient functioning of the legal office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to lawyers and legal staff, including preparing legal documents, correspondence, and reports.
- Manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date records and filing systems.
- Assist with court required electronic filing and understand specialty areas of practice.
- Prepare and edit documents, including complaints, answers, routine notices, affidavits, motions, and petitions.
- Establish and maintain attorney trial notebooks, expert witness notebooks, document indexes, reports, and lists.
- Utilize computerized litigation techniques and software.
- Establish and maintain calendar and deadline reminder system.
- Act as witness or Notary Public, as requested.
- Open new files, complete and submit conflict of interest report requests, and maintain all client and general files.
- Conduct periodic review of files for possible off-site storage.
- Receive clients and visitors, maintain good public relations with clients, and observe confidentiality of attorney-client relationship.
- Make appointments for attorneys, as requested, and make travel arrangements for attorneys, as requested.
- Process bills, proofs work in process, reviews and edits work in process in preparation for billing.
- Work closely with administrative support staff, including office services, scanning center, reprographics vendors, hospitality, marketing, etc.
- Ensure that attorney time sheets are entered into the time and billing system in a timely manner.
