Job SummaryAs a Registered Diagnostic Sonographer Supervisor, you will oversee the cardiovascular sonographer team, ensuring quality patient care and maximizing efficiencies. This role coordinates daily clinical operations, facilitates the orientation of new staff, and manages schedules and equipment maintenance. You will also be responsible for supervisory and administrative practices, clinical evaluation, role optimization, advocacy, and education related to cardiac and vascular sonography.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and mentor ultrasound/sonographer team members, providing input on hiring, discipline, and performance evaluation.
  • Ensure quality and accreditation for both Echo (ICAEL) and Vascular (IAC-VL) labs, managing reaccreditation processes every three years.
  • Serve as Technical Director for IAC accreditation, ensuring quality and compliance with Intersocietal Accreditation Commission standards.
  • Facilitate accurate information flow from the organization to team partners in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate quality review and case study conferences under the supervision of the medical director.
  • Promote quality improvement programs incorporating patient case standards and meeting The Joint Commission and Vascular and Echocardiography regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain cardiovascular imaging capabilities and participate in professional organizations, staying abreast of industry trends and best practices.
  • Perform advanced cardiac ultrasound procedures, utilizing various equipment and techniques, and make necessary measurements for accurate results.
  • Assist physicians in procedure rooms and operating rooms by performing echocardiograph studies to aid in complex procedures.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, obtain clinical history, and adapt imaging techniques for comprehensive and diagnostic echocardiograms.
  • Record statistics and perform daily maintenance of the Echocardiography Lab and its equipment, reporting malfunctions as necessary.
  • Act as a resource to staff, physicians, and students regarding equipment, techniques, procedures, and studies to optimize patient care.

Requirements:

Education and Certifications:
  • Minimum of an Associate degree; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Valid certifications: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).
  • Five years' experience in a leadership role of a cardiac or vascular imaging lab.
  • Prior experience with accreditation requirements and successful submission.
  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification.
  • Completion of Hepatitis B Vaccine and Flu Vaccine Form required.
  • Completion of TB test required.

Physical Requirements:
  • Work consistently requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to lift and support weight of 35 pounds.
  • Ability to concentrate on details.
  • Use of computer for long periods of time.
