Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the operating room team during surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile environment and adhering to internal standards and procedures.
  • Prepare and inventory sterile set-ups for operations, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
  • Pass instruments and supplies to the surgical team as needed, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Assist in the preparation and transfer of patients, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the procedure.
  • Participate in the cleaning, reprocessing, and storage of instruments and equipment, maintaining a high level of cleanliness and organization.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduation from an accredited surgical technician program or completion of a UofL Health surgical technologist program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
  • One year of experience in an operating room setting as a surgical technician or completion of clinical rotations at University Hospital.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Surgical Technician (CST) certification.
