ABOUT THE ROLE . . .

The Technical Field Specialist position is a pivotal technical role within the ME-Elecmetal Technical-Commercial Department, delivering comminution application and field support for the ME Elecmetal liner business line. This role is instrumental in proactively gathering quality operational site data to inform studies, evaluations, and optimization initiatives. Responsibilities include data capture, analysis, and reporting services.

Nature and Scope:

  • A core responsibility of the Technical Field Specialist is conducting 3D laser scans on both new and worn crusher and grinding mill components at client process facilities. Utilizing advanced scanning equipment such as Faro, Creaform, or equivalent, this critical function enhances ME Elecmetal's wear tracking and liner optimization services.
  • Advanced non-destructive testing methods, including onsite hardness and Ultrasonic (UT) assessments, augment the value of the 3D scanning services. The Technical Field Specialist plays a vital role in Client Concern Report investigations through process application data and analysis.
  • This position is an integral part of the ME team involved in ME FIT (Fully Integrated Technologies) and VAES (Value Added Engineering Services) initiatives, providing technical and field support to sales and product development teams.
  • Field support for liner installation is also a key responsibility, particularly for the ME UpTime+ grinding mill relining services, which optimize mill liner installation through detailed onsite evaluations.
  • The Technical Field Specialist contributes to ME Elecmetal's development initiatives for new products, such as the SMTP TM Bolt Tension Monitoring System.
  • As a customer-focused member of the ME Elecmetal team, the Technical Field Specialist will identify opportunities to enhance the ME value proposition.
  • Providing technical guidance as necessary, this role requires strong analytical and computational capabilities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collect field data, experimental results, laser scan data, and analytical/computational findings to develop optimized designs for crusher and mill liners that extend wear life and enhance throughput, thereby reducing total ownership costs.
  • Collaborate with the crusher products and solutions (CPS) group to refine the design of primary and secondary cone crushers - bowls and mantle utilizing laser scanning technology.
  • Offer technical and field support to the sales team during in-field failure assessments.
  • Assist in the development and documentation of design standards and procedures by sharing field experiences and engineering insights with designers.

Key Skills:

  • Proficient in Laser Scanning Technologies (FARO, Creaform, or similar).
  • Well-acquainted with Milling and Crushing circuits within the Aggregates and Mineral Processing sectors.
  • Exhibit excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and achieve goals and objectives.
  • Proficient in both verbal and written English, comfortable presenting technical information.
  • MS Office proficiency, including advanced skills in EXCEL and PowerPoint.
  • Able to work on mine sites, with MSHA New Miner training provided.
  • Willingness to travel to remote mine site locations in North America.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Mining, Application, Metallurgical, Mechanical, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of five years of progressive experience in mining, aggregate, comminution, mineral processing, or a related field is essential.
  • Experience with industrial crushing, grinding, and mineral processing in large mining operations is crucial.
