Key Responsibilities:

  • Process customer transactions, including cash, credit cards, and meal plans, accurately and efficiently.
  • Restock cashier supplies, assist in restocking shelves and coolers, and ensure all HAACP logs are completed as required.
  • Provide excellent customer service, greet customers, and respond to their needs in a timely and professional manner.
  • Clean and close the dining area, including cleaning tables, emptying trash, and cleaning equipment as required.
  • Complete paperwork related to cashier operations, including transfer of funds reports, closing reports, cash reconciliation sheets, and deposit envelopes.

Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a cashier in a large-scale operation.
  • Customer service experience and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to complete and maintain University Housing and Dining Food Safety Training and/or ServSafe throughout employment.
  • Ability to complete and maintain University Housing and Dining cash handling training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school graduation or GED.
  • Two or more years of experience as a cashier in a large-scale operation.
  • Experience as a Cashier in a dining or retail establishment.
  • Experience using a point-of-sale system (POS).
  • High volume cashiering experience.
  • Ability to multi-task and work with little supervision.

Working Conditions:

  • Uniforms and/or personal protection equipment (furnished).
  • May work in extreme temperatures.
  • May work around chemical fumes.
  • Repetitive use of keyboard at a workstation.
  • Use of manual dexterity.
  • Lifting and moving up to 35 pounds.
  • Pushing, pulling, and moving up to 50 pounds.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary for this position is $18.00 per hour. The University of Texas at Austin offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
