Phlebotomist Job Opportunity

This is a contract job opportunity with potential for permanent placement. The position is located in Santa Rosa, CA, and the schedule is 1st shift. The projected duration is 3 months, with potential for permanent placement. Benefits are available, and the pay rate is $21.35 per hour. The candidate will be required to travel to other locations and will be reimbursed for mileage. A clean driving record is required.

Job Summary

The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. The position responsibilities include:

  • Experience in blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and decontamination.
  • Collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures.
  • Properly explaining the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection to patients.
  • Demonstrating technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
  • Fully understanding physicians' orders.
  • Matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
  • Labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as required by test order.
  • Checking test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.
  • Packaging specimens for transport.
  • Storing specimen samples according to required temperature and accurately labeling.
Requirements

The minimum qualifications for this position include:

  • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed.
  • Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
