Frostburg State University is seeking a skilled Electrician to join our Physical Plant Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing electrical work at the journey level, installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment and facilities involving electrical circuits carrying less than 13,000 volts.

Responsibilities
  • Under general supervision, perform electrical work at the journey level, including installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and apparatus.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and skill in the theory, principles, methods, and techniques used in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment, and apparatus.
  • Thorough knowledge of and skill in basic mathematics, including area, volume, weights, and the practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Prepare summaries and reports, and communicate effectively and follow directions.
  • Work in, on, around, over, and under fixed equipment and machinery, and manipulate heavy equipment, tools, and supplies.
  • Concurrently manipulate multiple controls on equipment and machinery, and work in hazardous or irritating environments, confined spaces, and adverse weather or temperature conditions.
Requirements
  • Four years progressively responsible experience in the electrical trade.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and skill in the theory, principles, methods, and techniques used in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment, and apparatus.
  • Thorough knowledge of and skill in basic mathematics, including area, volume, weights, and the practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional experience as a journeyman level electrician and/or experience in a lead electrician capacity.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing fire alarm systems, security systems, and other electronic devices found on campus.
