Job Summary

The University of Georgia is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Wildlife Technician to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to work on a remote barrier island off the coast of Georgia, collaborating with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to protect high-priority and threatened species.

About the Job

As a Wildlife Technician, you will be responsible for trapping and removing invasive species such as wild pigs and coyotes, radio collaring wild pigs, conducting remote camera surveys, and assisting with data collection and other research activities.

Responsibilities
  • Trap, collar and remove invasive species by monitoring wildlife traps and survey equipment.
  • Conduct remote camera surveys and collect data, often operating a boat and/or 4X4s to reach research locations.
  • Coordinate activities with property managers and collaborators related to research equipment and troubleshoot mechanical issues in the field.
  • Assist with reports, manuscripts, presentations, and other tasks using research findings.
About the Salary

The estimated salary range for this position is $40,000 - $60,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
