Job Summary

As a Medical Matron at the University of Maryland Faculty Physicians, you will play a vital role in facilitating effective communication between the healthcare team, patients, and their families. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate care and ensure quality, safe, and effective patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate care to ensure quality, effective care, and patient safety
  • Assist with facilitating and coordinating communication between the healthcare team, patient, and patient's family
  • Establish joint practices with designated providers for follow-up patients
  • Establish primary practices for urgent or return patients
  • Review intake forms and medical records for appropriateness
  • Create detailed patient care plans and provide patient education
  • Serve on department, hospital, and community committees
  • Maintain professional licensure, certification, and credentialing requirements
  • Participate in and present at local, regional, and national professional organizations

Requirements

  • Master of Science degree in Nursing
  • Registered Nurse license
  • Certified as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
