Counselor - Behavioral Health Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Counselor to join our team at Behavioral Health Group. As a Counselor, you will play a vital role in helping patients achieve their social, educational, and occupational goals.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular counseling sessions and group sessions to support patients in their recovery journey.
- Orient patients to our treatment program operations and procedures, ensuring a smooth transition into our care.
- Collect and assess social, educational, economic, and vocational information to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
- Develop and revise patient treatment plans, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Make referrals and perform necessary follow-ups to ensure patients receive the best possible care.
- Assist in implementing new programs and provide guidance on caseload management to support the growth and development of our team.
- Provide in-service training to staff and maintain a basic understanding of addiction to inform your practice.
- Conduct intake and readmission services, providing supportive follow-up counseling to patients.
- Provide crisis intervention and inter-agency documentation to ensure patients receive timely and effective support.
- Coordinate care with community providers as needed to ensure a seamless continuum of care.
- Participate in and provide in-service training required by federal, state, local, and accrediting agencies to maintain our high standards of care.
- Attend conferences, meetings, and training programs to stay up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.
- Schedule and attend regular in-service training to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Perform OBOT services and report any work-related issues immediately to ensure patient safety and well-being.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisory team to support the growth and development of our organization.
- As per the requirements for your state, individuals with human service-related degrees (Masters or Bachelors) and current counseling credentials should apply.
- Experience in behavioral health is preferred but not required.

- Ability to make decisions and use proper judgment with confidential and sensitive issues.
- Ability to deal appropriately with patients and team members in stressful or other undesirable situations and to seek direction from supervisors when necessary.
- Must be able to react quickly and make effective decisions.
- Ability to demonstrate sufficient knowledge and understanding of human behavior to show potential for rehabilitating drug-dependent patients.
- Knowledge of the substance abuse population, treatment planning, and the field of human social services to work toward the rehabilitation of the patient community.
- Compliance with federal and state regulations regarding certification, licensure, and degree.
