Per Diem Hospitalist Physician

OptumCare is seeking a highly skilled Per Diem Hospitalist to join our team in Redlands, CA. As a Per Diem Hospitalist, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities:- Examine, assess, diagnose, and treat inpatients under the responsibility of Beaver Medical Group.
- Accept admissions from the Emergency Room, BMG offices, Extended Care Center, and transfers from other facilities.
- Prescribe medications and treatment regimens appropriate for assessed medical conditions.
- Consult with and refer to specialists as necessary.
- Direct and coordinate patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
- Respond to calls from medical and surgical floors, and the ICU for Beaver Medical Group patients.
- Follow established Redlands Community Hospital and Beaver Medical Group policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, primary care physicians, and transferring physicians to ensure successful transfer of care.
- Cover ER backup patients when they are a BMG responsibility.
- Provide direct supervision of physician extenders in the hospital setting, co-manage patients, and assign panels for extenders.
- Follow care guidelines in the hospital, including standardized hospital order sets and/or hospitalist manual.
- Discharge patients when medically appropriate, utilizing hospital case management and ancillary personnel.
- Report to the Director of Hospital Care and the Medical Director of BMG.
- Participate in committee activities relevant to hospitalist care.
- Perform H & P for BMG Psychiatric Admissions.
- Work 12-hour shifts.
- Prefer 1-2 years of experience as a Hospitalist.
- BLS and ACLS required.
- Current CA and DEA license required.
- Will accept FM and IM candidates.
The hourly range for this role is $129.00 to $171.00 per hour. Pay is based on several factors, including local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
