Job Summary:

We are seeking a Transportation Assistant to provide one-on-one support to students with disabilities on special education buses. The ideal candidate will have effective interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work well with children with disabilities.

Responsibilities:

Assist students with physical disabilities, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, or positioning.
Manage the behavior of students and intervene in crisis situations as needed.
Learn and adapt to each student's special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.
Assist the driver in loading and unloading students and supervising them as they board and leave the bus.
Ensure the safety of individual students and assist the driver in handling emergency situations.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold district policies.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to pass an alcohol and drug test and a physical capabilities test.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work well with children with disabilities and operate safety equipment and adaptive equipment.
