Position Title: Financial Counselor

Key Responsibilities:

  • Admit patients as outpatients or inpatients while ensuring accurate and timely verification of their information.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Managed Care contracts to support patient admissions.
  • Conduct follow-ups on accounts post-admission to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Input all relevant financial data into the system, ensuring the patient’s chart is updated with current information for Medical Records and Case Management.
  • Verify and correct daily bed, room, and charge census to maintain accurate statistical data for distribution to relevant departments.
  • Review patient financial information to ensure completeness and accuracy before submission to the billing office.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a hospital business office or in admitting/insurance verification.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state regulations and programs.
  • Familiarity with the insurance precertification process and contracted insurance plans.
  • Excellent mathematical skills and extensive knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders regarding financial requirements.
  • Typing speed of at least 50 words per minute.
  • At least two years of computer experience.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks in a high-volume environment.
  • Exceptional customer service abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current Basic Life Support (CPR) certification from recognized organizations.
  • Proficiency in reading and communicating effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Salary Range: $15.88 - $18.00
