Position Overview

As a Culinary Operations Supervisor, you will play a vital role in orchestrating culinary teams that design and prepare meals that reflect the cultural and educational objectives of our language programs. Your leadership will be essential in guiding the teams responsible for executing these menus and in fostering professional growth among team members.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership in Culinary Production

- Direct the team in the preparation, cooking, serving, and cleaning of culturally relevant meals.

- Anticipate daily food preparation needs and address potential shortages proactively.

- Uphold food quality, safety, and sanitation standards diligently.

- Manage food waste effectively and maintain organized, clean work areas in compliance with health regulations.

- Implement environmentally sustainable practices within the kitchen.

2. Team Coordination and Scheduling

- Create and manage work schedules for team members.

- Develop strategies to address unexpected staffing shortages.

- Oversee the maintenance and care of kitchen facilities.

- Ensure timely ordering and organization of food supplies and equipment.

- Delegate daily tasks and responsibilities to team members.

- Gather feedback from language communities regarding food offerings.

3. Staff Development and Training

- Design and implement Professional Development Plans tailored to the skills required for each position.

- Facilitate training workshops for all culinary staff.

- Conduct regular evaluations and performance reviews to ensure ongoing staff development.

- Mentor and coach team members through hands-on collaboration.

- Prioritize training opportunities in daily operations.

4. Menu Development and Educational Support

- Collaborate with language communities to create authentic menus that align with educational goals.

- Research and develop recipes that complement the designed menus while adhering to budget constraints.

- Maintain comprehensive records of menus and recipes for future reference.

5. Staff Supervision and Recruitment

- Participate in the recruitment and hiring processes for culinary team members.

- Supervise daily operations and ensure compliance with performance standards.

- Address and document any performance issues that arise.

- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and health codes.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

- High School Diploma or GED required.

- Associate's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.

- A minimum of three years in a related field with at least one year in a supervisory role.

- Proven experience in staff training and menu planning.

- Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience in large-scale cooking and food ordering.

- Bachelor's Degree or Culinary Degree is advantageous.

- Five years of relevant experience and food industry certifications are preferred.
