Job Summary

The Facilities and Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in supporting the local facility, ensuring compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations, and delivering on the preventative maintenance program for all assigned machinery. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns in a timely manner, including conveyors, pumps, cappers, fillers, labelers, environmental chambers, refrigerators, and robots.
  • Research equipment manuals and interpret engineering drawings to perform repairs.
  • Participate in on-call rotations with other maintenance technicians.
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and set up mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, piping, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems on manufacturing and facilities equipment.
  • Perform thermal inspections of electrical equipment using an infrared camera.
  • Understand and follow Veolia safety policy and applicable standards, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), personal protective equipment (PPE), hot work, elevated work, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70e, and National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Build, wire, and install electrical enclosures.
  • Operate shop equipment safely, including lathes, mills, drill presses, welders, lifting hoists, forklifts, and scissor lifts.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, housekeeping, and lubrication tasks.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough maintenance records.
  • Supervise vendors to ensure safety policies are being followed and projects remain on plan.
  • Perform building and grounds maintenance and respond to facility issues, including emergency repairs as needed to keep the facility in good running order.
  • Support EHS, compliance, quality, and security tasks.
  • Print, program, and issue employee badges.
  • Assist engineers with project work.
  • Contribute to capital projects.
Requirements
  • High school diploma.
  • 2+ years of work experience in a manufacturing environment as a facilities or maintenance technician.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Electrical certification.
  • Thermography certification.
  • Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and motor controls experience.
  • Fabrication, welding, and machining experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Possess initiative, able to work independently, is reliable, and thorough.
  • Ability and willingness to read documents and implement safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
