We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Early Childhood Bus Aide to join our team at Hazelwood School District. As a key member of our transportation team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and supervision of ECSE students on designated bus routes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the loading and unloading of students, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Perform regular checks on students' seat belts and restraints to ensure proper use.
  • Collaborate with teachers, aides, and assistants to facilitate smooth student exchanges at bus loading/unloading areas.
  • Provide excellent customer service to parents and guardians during loading and unloading procedures.
  • Work closely with bus drivers to ensure a safe and efficient transportation experience.
  • Monitor students during travel time to prevent any incidents or accidents.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist with route directions and navigation when a substitute driver is present.
  • Provide comfort and support to students who may be upset or distressed.
  • Participate in fire drills and other safety exercises to ensure preparedness.
Requirements
  • Basic knowledge of arithmetic, spelling, English, and grammar, equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.
  • Positive and effective communication skills, with the ability to interact with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on providing excellent customer service.
  • Physical stamina to perform duties that require standing, walking, and lifting (or assisting) students as needed.
Working Conditions

This role requires working in both indoor and outdoor environments, with regular travel on school buses. The ideal candidate will be able to adapt to changing situations and prioritize the safety and well-being of students.
