About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Clinical Research Nurse to join our team at Nationwide Children's Hospital. As a key member of our research team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective management of patients participating in clinical research trials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate care plans using evidence-based practices in accordance with study protocol requirements.
  • Provide nursing care using a family-centered approach, prioritizing quality and safety throughout patient participation in clinical studies.
  • Delegate, direct, and oversee patient care, ensuring developmentally appropriate care for all patients.
  • Practice professional nursing and promote patient advocacy, adhering to the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and maintaining a current Ohio Nursing License.
  • Collaborate effectively with care providers to communicate patient care needs, expectations, and priorities related to clinical trial participation.
  • Complete and manage procedural, data, regulatory, and training elements associated with clinical research project implementation, execution, and close-out.
Requirements
  • BSN degree or Associates degree with a commitment to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire.
  • Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
  • CPR certification; willingness to obtain and maintain NRP and PALS certification as determined by management.
  • Certification by the Association of Clinical Research Professionals or Society of Clinical Research Administrators, preferred.
Skills and Qualities
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical nursing skills, including venipuncture, IV starts, and injections.
  • Understanding of medical terminology and clinical trials.
  • Working knowledge of PCs, word processing, and data management software.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Goal-oriented, self-directed, and motivated individual with excellent organizational and attention to detail skills.
Work Environment

This role may involve exposure to blood and/or bodily fluids, communicable diseases and/or pathogens, chemicals/medications, patient equipment, fumes/gases/vapors, biohazard waste, electricity, loud noises, hot temperatures, and cold temperatures.

Decision Making

This role requires frequent decision-making, prioritizing patient care needs, and ensuring compliance with regulations and hospital policies.
