Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Specialist V to join our team at the Texas General Land Office. This is a unique opportunity to work with our Veterans Land Board division and make a meaningful impact in the lives of Texas veterans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serves as the primary representative of the Veterans Land Board at the Texas State Veterans Home, ensuring compliance with operations and management contracts.
  • Built strong relationships with the home's administrators, communicating expectations and monitoring corrective actions.
  • Monitors and coordinates surveys, inspections, and reviews to determine compliance with federal grants, laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversees the completion of performance reports and recommends changes and areas of improvement.
  • Manages the Resident Fund and completes purchase requests as approved by the Resident Counsel.
  • Performs a range of technical, training, research, planning, policy, program assessment, and administrative activities for assigned programs.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in business, social work, or a related field.
  • Four years of full-time experience in the administration of an eldercare program, such as an assisted living facility or nursing home.
  • Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in administration of an elder care program at a VA medical center, State Veterans Home, long-term care program, or a nursing home environment.
Working Conditions

This position requires the employee to primarily perform non-sedentary work, with mobility and normal cognitive abilities required to carry out duties.
