Position Overview: The Materials Coordinator is a vital role within the Central Sterile Processing and Supply (CSPS) department, reporting directly to the Materials Supervisor. This position focuses on providing essential logistical support through efficient supply replenishment workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receiving & Stocking: Manage the de-casing of orders in designated breakdown areas, ensuring the removal of all packaging materials to maintain a clean and organized environment. Safely handle and distribute supplies to uphold the integrity of sterile products. Responsible for the systematic stocking of all non-specialty supplies and inventory items in their respective locations, utilizing the FIFO (First In, First Out) method to prevent overstocking and ensure product sterility. Regularly check for expired items and remove them from supply areas. Gather unused sterile supplies and return them to their proper locations. Monitor overstock storage and replenish stock as necessary, while maintaining cleanliness and order in all supply areas.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Environmental Services to ensure that waste and storage materials do not obstruct pathways. Provide assistance to staff and end users regarding product locations, deliveries, and returns as needed.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and adaptability.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and similar applications.

Education:

Minimum Requirements: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications: Some college education or an Associate's Degree. Experience in customer service (over one year) and in an Operating Room/Sterile Processing environment (over one year) is advantageous.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent walking and standing are required.
  • Regularly involved in breaking down pallets and moving supplies using rolling carts.
  • Exposure to the Operating Room environment is part of the role.
  • Adherence to a strict dress code, including the wearing of surgical scrubs, is mandatory.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 35 lbs frequently, as well as bending, stooping, pulling, and retrieving materials.
