Key Responsibilities:
The primary duty of the Nutritional Culinary Specialist is to prepare and present appealing meals that meet customer expectations while ensuring a clean and safe dining environment in accordance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
- Ensure accurate preparation, portioning, and serving of meals
- Maintain and document assigned temperatures daily
- Supervise and guide Dining Aides as necessary
- Ensure meals are ready and served on schedule
- Engage with residents in dining areas to gather feedback on meals
- Adhere to temperature regulations for food preparation, serving, and storage
- Clean food service equipment post-use and follow the department cleaning schedule
- Replenish supplies in work areas as needed
- Sweep and mop floors regularly
- Open the kitchen when required, including turning on lights and starting equipment
- Attend and participate in educational classes, departmental meetings, and staff training sessions
- Uphold the confidentiality of all residents and their care to protect their rights and privacy
- Comply with safety protocols, infection control measures, and maintain a tidy work environment
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Understanding of Dining Services procedures and practices
- Strong interpersonal and managerial skills, including the ability to follow instructions and make independent decisions
- Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English
- Ability to read and interpret recipes and menus
- Genuine interest in working with seniors and prioritizing their well-being
- Personal integrity and the ability to interact tactfully with residents, families, and staff
- Ability to work collaboratively with Dining Services and other facility personnel
- Good judgment in prioritizing tasks according to established standards
- Discretion in handling confidential information and adherence to compliance regulations
- Patience, a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and adaptability to residents' varying needs
- Ability to communicate information regarding residents' conditions
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred but not mandatory
- ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain certification
- At least one year of experience in a similar role is preferred
