Exciting Urology Position in Gainesville, Florida

The Department of Veteran Affairs is actively seeking a qualified General Urologist to enhance our medical team in Gainesville, Florida. As part of one of the largest VA healthcare systems in the nation, we offer a unique opportunity to practice in a region known for its favorable living conditions, including no personal state income tax, stunning beaches, and a rich cultural landscape.
Key Responsibilities
The Urology division at the Department of Veteran Affairs is in search of a board-eligible or board-certified Urologist to contribute to our esteemed practice at the Gainesville Veterans Hospital. The role includes potential adjunct faculty positions at a prominent university. We are interested in candidates with comprehensive experience across various facets of clinical and surgical urology.
Clinical Duties:
- Engage with a diverse range of medical conditions, focusing on diagnosis and management, including minor surgical procedures.
- Operating Room Responsibilities: Our facility is equipped with multiple operating rooms and an outpatient surgery center, featuring an advanced robotics program with a new Da Vinci Xi dual console robot, capable of handling complex surgical cases.
- Educational Role: You will have the opportunity to mentor urology residents in an accredited training program, with the presence of PGY 2 and PGY 5 residents on service. Participation in lectures, research, and other educational activities is available but not mandatory.
- Research Opportunities: Ample chances for research exist, though participation is not a requirement.
- On-Call Duties: Call responsibilities are typically shared between VA and university faculty, occurring in one-week increments, averaging one call period every 8-10 weeks.
- Supervision: Oversee the activities of 7 mid-level providers (ARNPs and PAs) as part of your supervisory duties.
Work Schedule: Full-Time; Monday to Friday; 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
