Job Title: Supplier Quality Assurance Specialist

Spartanburg Steel Products is seeking a highly skilled Supplier Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our quality team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our suppliers meet our quality standards and requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain supplier quality assurance programs across our supply base
  • Perform audits on new and existing suppliers to evaluate their quality performance and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Guide suppliers through the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process and approve their results
  • Provide support to suppliers during the corrective action process to ensure that they meet our quality requirements
  • Develop improvement actions for underperforming suppliers to increase their capability to meet our quality standards
  • Participate in internal and external drawing reviews to synchronize demands and reduce risk
  • Verify supplier PPAP submissions for all new part designs within assigned New Product Development
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a relevant discipline
  • ASQ/CQE certification preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with supplier quality-related topics
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience
  • Possession of recognized qualifications in quality engineering, audit processes, and relevant certifications
  • Thorough working knowledge of quality systems methods and quality engineering practices
  • Strong planning, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, listening, negotiation, and consulting
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% as required to domestic locations and work extended hours, including overtime and weekends
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management System and databases and IATF16949
  • Experience performing Supplier Quality Audits and Process Audits with new and existing suppliers
  • Demonstrated ability to handle large projects and bring them to conclusion
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize resources and project timelines
  • General knowledge of Supply Chain Management or Quality Engineering practices as well as automated and manual procurement systems
  • Relevant experience in reading and interpreting technical drawings/specifications
  • Monitor key supply chain KPIs and lead strategic supplier improvement projects
  • Ensure supplier compliance with environmental regulations
  • Coordinate timely resolution of technical issues with suppliers
  • Cultivate long-term supplier relationships and drive cost reduction initiatives
