Volleyball Official

Reports to: Program Supervisor/Coordinator

Compensation: $8 - $12/hour (based on League Assignment)

Employment Type: Part-time/Non-exempt/non-benefitted

GENERAL PURPOSE

The Volleyball Official operates under the guidance and oversight of the Volleyball Supervisor, Program Coordinators, and the Recreation Director. The Volleyball program is seasonal, with part-time hourly commitments not exceeding 29 hours per week. Weekly hours may vary between 3 to 5 hours, depending on the league schedule. Matches are typically held on Saturdays, with additional tournament play on select weeknights. Candidates should possess a fundamental understanding of volleyball skills and regulations. Minimum age requirement is 14 years.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work closely under the supervision of the recreation supervisor.
• Attend all scheduled matches and arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time.
• Effectively communicate with participants, parents, and fellow staff members.
• Officiate volleyball matches.
• Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
• Assist with the setup, takedown, and cleaning of facilities.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIREMENTS

• Applicants must be at least 14 years of age.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Strong communication skills with participants, parents, and other staff.
• Ability to officiate volleyball matches effectively.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Candidates should have a basic understanding of volleyball skills and rules. Previous officiating experience is preferred but not mandatory.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Moderate physical activity is required, including the ability to lift 15 to 50 pounds.
• The position involves walking, standing, lifting, and other physical activities.
• Availability to work on weeknights and/or Saturdays is necessary.
