Position: Breast Imaging Specialist

Qualifications Required:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Mammography Technologist
- Proficient in operating Mammography machinery and related equipment
- Capable of working autonomously while managing multiple tasks
- Strong documentation skills, ensuring accuracy and clarity
- Comprehensive understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
- Familiarity with computer systems, including data management and billing software
- Associate's Degree in Radiology or completion of an accredited two-year radiology program
- Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography, with current registration
- High School diploma required

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct screening breast imaging procedures and related techniques, generating data for interpretation by licensed practitioners.

- Ensure that all services are delivered in a safe environment, adhering to established guidelines and regulatory standards.

- Collaborate with the imaging center team, actively seeking and providing feedback to enhance clinical practices.

- Manage verbal, written, and electronic orders within the patient's medical records.

- Confirm the patient's clinical history aligns with the physician's orders and procedures, ensuring all information is accurately documented for practitioner use.

- Verify informed consent when necessary.
- Attend to patient needs throughout procedures.
- Apply ALARA principles to minimize exposure for patients, self, and others.

- Identify, prepare, and/or administer medications as directed by licensed practitioners, in compliance with state and federal regulations.

- Assess images for technical quality, ensuring proper identification is recorded.
- Provide education to patients, students, and other healthcare professionals.
- Engage in ongoing quality assurance activities.

- Prepare and position patients, competently performing procedures using established Mammography protocols or as directed by licensed practitioners to achieve optimal imaging quality.

- Conduct physical breast inspections or palpations as required.
- Determine appropriate image exposure factors.
- Maintain digital data archival storage as necessary.
- Assist in managing supply inventory.
- Instruct students and residents, fulfilling preceptor duties as needed.
- Take pride in the clinical area by ensuring the cleanliness and readiness of exam rooms, equipment, and supplies.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives.
- Offer assistance to other modalities/areas of the Imaging Center as workload permits.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings, in-services, and center-wide meetings as scheduled.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
