Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Assistant to join our team at Keck Medicine of USC. As a Patient Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing staff support in patient care delivery, clerical functions, and organization of the unit environment.
  • Set up and maintain equipment, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Anticipate patient needs and respond promptly to patient calls.
  • Contribute to the patient's plan of care and implement interventions as directed by the RN.
  • Perform essential skills that contribute to positive patient outcomes, including vital signs, daily weight, I & O, hygiene, and ambulation/mobility.
  • Ensure a safe physical environment and operate patient-care equipment safely.
  • Document all care provided, including vital signs, intake and output, meal percentages, equipment used, and patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure confidentiality of patient records and other written information.
Requirements
  • High school or equivalent.
  • Specialized/technical training, such as a Certified Nursing Program.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting (preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) certification.
