Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Special Inspector to join our team at Insight Global. As a Special Inspector, you will be responsible for conducting field observations and materials sampling/testing during construction, ensuring compliance with contract documents, and communicating progress to the Department Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct field observations and materials sampling/testing during construction.
  • Test construction materials such as soils, reinforcing steel, concrete, masonry, structural steel, fireproofing, metal decking, roofing, and paving.
  • Document daily field activities and compliance with contract documents.
  • Cast field samples for strength verification.
  • Communicate daily progress to the Department Manager.
  • Transport construction material samples to the laboratory and deliver equipment to site technicians.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma.
  • 1+ year of experience in Construction Materials Engineering & Testing and Special Inspections.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong technical background and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining current certifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • NCDOT testing/inspection certifications.
  • Additional ICC Special Inspector Certifications (e.g., Pre-stressed Concrete, Soil, Spray-applied Fireproofing, Structural Masonry, Structural Welding, Structural Steel and Bolting).
  • PTI Unbonded Level 1 or 2 certification.
  • Experience with Cast Auger Piles.
  • Background in vertical construction with emphasis on soil and concrete field testing.
