FlightSafety operates the world's largest fleet of advanced full-flight simulators and award-winning maintenance training at Learning Centers and training locations in the United States, Canada, France and the United Kingdom.

Purpose of Position

Provides hands-on software expertise to clear Maintenance and Corrective Action Reports, simulator write-ups, perform modifications and upgrades, and other software-related configuration efforts for all sites in the assigned region.

Resides in one of the predesignated regional locations or greater Tulsa area.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Reviews simulator engineering specifications, malfunction documents, flight system test requirements, flight-related test data, and aircraft simulator wiring diagrams and schematics, plus all additional flight-related aircraft-specific data.
  2. Repairs flight simulation software and integrates the software with that of other engineering disciplines such as autoflight, autotest, Flight controls engines, motion, systems, navigation, and visual systems, etc.
  3. Integrates and repairs flight software with control loading and motion software and hardware.
  4. Develops complete simulation system test programs and prepares simulation system customer test plans.
  5. Performs standardized checkout procedures.
  6. Understands and repairs full Flight Director and Autopilot models and control laws.
  7. Transforms engineering flow diagrams into high-order computer language and working simulation system models.
  8. Conducts aircraft and simulator system tests under supervision of an experienced SME or senior flight engineer.
  9. Works with other engineering departments to ensure all aspects of simulation meet test requirements.
  10. May participate in on-site qualification process of simulator.
  11. Interfaces with customers to complete system testing and correct any discrepancies in system simulation models.
Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other applicable technical field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills in several of the following areas are required:

Able to apply mathematical operations to tasks such as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
