About This Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Safety and Security Specialist. As a key member of our Petco team, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our guests, partners, and pets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Sales and Guest Experience: Welcome and engage guests and team members at the front of store and on the sales floor, helping them find the products they need.
  • Lead Physical Security Culture: Assess and maintain safe and secure standards throughout the store, including exterior property, to ensure a secure environment for all.
  • Escalation and Incident Response: Understand and leverage escalation tools to address guest issues, providing a safe and secure environment for our partners and guests.
  • Documentation and Communication: Notify leadership and support documentation for all incidents, ensuring timely and effective communication.
  • Shoplifting Prevention and Training: Teach, coach, and model behaviors of our shoplifting prevention policy, promoting a culture of safety and security.
  • Video System and Audit Execution: Understand and appropriately use the video system, supporting merchandise protection and audit execution.
  • Shortage Action Plans and Training: Execute shortage action plans set by leadership to minimize shortage in focus areas, training Pet Care Center partners on operational shortage focus area opportunities.
  • Safety Behaviors and Customer Service: Model and coach safety behaviors, maintaining a clean store for guests and partners, and providing quality customer service interactions.
  • Culture of Ethical Conduct and Compliance: Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance, completing and remaining current on all applicable training.
  • Additional Duties and Projects: Perform additional duties and projects as required or assigned, with or without regular supervision.
Requirements
  • Minimum of One Year of Retail Experience: A minimum of one year of retail experience is required, with experience in loss prevention desired.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Welcoming and Helpful Attitude: A welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and Pet Care Center partners is essential.
  • Learn and Adapt to Technology: The ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs is required.
  • Effective Communication Skills: Effective communication skills are necessary for success in this role.
  • Work Independently and with a Team: The ability to work both independently and with a team is required.
  • Manage Workload and Prioritize Tasks: The ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently is essential.
Certification and Education
  • Petco Animal Care Certification: Completing and maintaining the Petco Animal Care Certification program is required in this role.
  • Mathematics and Basic Accounting Relationships: Proficiency in mathematics and basic accounting relationships is required, along with exceptional communication skills.
Work Environment

The majority of job duties are conducted indoors, although guest carry outs and veterinary visits may require a partner to leave the PCC briefly. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to meet PCC needs.
