The Psychiatric Social Worker may work with specific age groups based on their training and certification. They must be familiar with various treatment modalities and be able to communicate effectively with members and clinical staff.
Essential Responsibilities- Timely and accurate assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and intervention of members.
- Selection of appropriate treatment modalities for members' presenting problems.
- Effective communication of clinical material to members and clinical staff.
- High internal and external customer/patient satisfaction.
- Expertise in various treatment methodologies.
- Appropriate and timely documentation of clinical encounters in members' charts.
- Knowledge of KP and community resources.
- Adherence to mandated guidelines for patients' clinical care and licensure.
- Maintenance of licensure.
- Conducting initial interviews with members to elicit and interpret the psychological and social meaning of complaints.
- Determining the urgency of members' needs.
- Providing professional interpretations of members' presentations and recommending courses of therapeutic action.
- Providing treatment to adults, adolescents, and children.
- Rendering immediate guidance and therapy for members in crisis or in need of clinical services.
- Maintaining written records of therapy, preparing reports, and contacting social agencies, schools, relatives, and friends to obtain pertinent information.
- Providing clinical consultation in an integrated healthcare environment regarding family interactions, sociocultural determinants, and community resources.
- Providing telephone assessments, counseling, resource information, and referrals.
- Proficiency in identifying and treating the span of developmental stages.
- Proficiency in various treatment modalities, including individual, group, family, and child therapy.
- Compliance with organizational, departmental, state, and federal guidelines and regulatory agency policies and procedures.
- Participation in quality management and continuous quality improvement activities.
- Two years of post-graduate mental health therapy experience within the last five years.
- Masters degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (California), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (California), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (California).
- National Provider Identifier.
- Knowledge of and ability to utilize current DSM nomenclature.
- Consistently demonstrates knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to members, customers, contracted providers, and vendors.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) Level II required.
