Licensed Mental Health Therapist

The Psychiatric Social Worker is a vital member of an interdisciplinary team at Kaiser Permanente, providing direct assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for members and their families. This role requires a deep understanding of psychopathology and the ability to recognize timely clinical treatment interventions. The Psychiatric Social Worker may work with specific age groups based on training and certification, and must be familiar with various treatment modalities. The majority of the position involves direct patient care, ensuring high-quality service to our members.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Competencies:
- Timely and accurate assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment intervention of members.
- Effective selection of treatment modalities to address members' presenting problems.
- Clear communication of clinical material to members and clinical staff.
- High internal and external customer/patient satisfaction.
- Expertise in various treatment methodologies.
- Accurate and timely documentation of clinical encounters in members' charts.
- Familiarity with KP and community resources.
- Adherence to mandated guidelines for patients' clinical care and licensure.
- Maintenance of licensure.
- Conducting initial interviews with members to elicit and interpret the psychological and social meaning of complaints.
- Determining the urgency of members' needs.
- Providing professional interpretations of members' presentations and recommending courses of therapeutic action, selecting appropriate treatment modalities.
- Providing treatment to adults, adolescents, and children.
- Rendering immediate guidance and therapy for members in crisis or requiring clinical services.
- Maintaining written records of therapy, preparing reports and letters, and contacting social agencies, schools, relatives, and friends to obtain pertinent information.
- Providing clinical consultation in an integrated healthcare environment regarding family interactions, sociocultural determinants, and community resources.
- Offering telephone assessments, counseling, resource information, and referrals.
- Proficiency in identifying and treating the span of developmental stages.
- Proficiency in various treatment modalities, including individual, group, family, and child therapy.
- Compliance with organizational, departmental, state, and federal guidelines, as well as regulatory agency policies and procedures.
- Participation in quality management and continuous quality improvement activities.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
- Two years of post-graduate mental health therapy experience within the last five years is required.
- A Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field is required.
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (California) or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (California) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (California)
- National Provider Identifier
- Familiarity with and ability to utilize current DSM nomenclature is required.
- Consistent demonstration of knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, members, and customers, contracted providers, and vendors.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) Level II is required.
