POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The Chief of CTE Success Initiatives oversees the operations of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Success Center, reporting directly to the Dean of Workforce Career and Technical Education. This role is funded through federal grants aimed at enhancing career and technical education in Texas, with employment contingent upon the availability of these funds.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and manage the staff of the CTE Success Center, including Academic Advisors and student assistants.
- Collaborate with the Workforce, Career & Technical Education division to develop and submit the annual Perkins Basic grant proposal, including evaluation and performance improvement plans.
- Oversee the financial management of the Perkins Basic Grant, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Administer services related to textbooks, childcare, and transportation, including inventory management and eligibility assessments for students.
- Support the Dean in establishing partnerships that enhance technical education programs.
- Design and implement the grant evaluation plan in alignment with performance standards set by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
- Guide CTE students in career planning and degree scheduling, facilitating connections with relevant program contacts.
- Assist with student registration processes as required.
- Engage in outreach to recruit students for technical education programs and communicate updates regarding course offerings.
- Utilize various marketing strategies to attract special population students.
- Provide comprehensive recruitment, enrollment, and job placement services for technical education students, focusing on equitable access.
- Conduct career assessments to inform students about their technical interests and aptitudes, offering tailored guidance.
- Manage job placement initiatives, including an online job board and participation in job fairs.
- Present information about CTE support services at various community and educational events.
- Organize and facilitate events such as Career Expos, Mock Interviews, and Job Fairs.
- Review high school transcripts for potential Tech Prep and Advanced Technical Credit eligibility.
- Participate in advisory committee meetings regularly.
- Support Workforce, Career & Technical Education events and initiatives.
- Engage in professional development through relevant organizations.
- Promote the services of the CTE Success Center to local organizations and the community.
- Conduct annual reviews of inventory related to grant-funded equipment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required
- Bachelor's Degree
- Master's Degree
- Two years of experience in grant administration
- Experience in staff management
- Flexibility in working hours may be necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
- Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
