Director of Government Relations

The Director of Government Relations will execute a comprehensive government relations strategy through engagement with local, regional, and state elected officials and key leaders in Arizona and Texas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze potential legislative and regulatory threats for impact on the business and degree of risk/opportunity, as well as develop strategic responses.
  • Work directly with Arizona and Texas market and hospital leadership to ensure all are informed of legislative and policy movement of consequence.
  • Deliver presentations on policy and legislative issues, both internally and externally.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key elected officials, community leaders, and organizations on the local, state, and federal levels to achieve system public policy and business development goals.
  • Support political activities and grassroots advocacy, represent department at assigned meetings, and manage other GR programs as assigned.
  • Direct and annual contract review and execution, working with the Vice President, Government Relations.
  • Lobby Arizona and Texas state legislators, governors and their administrations, and local elected officials on matters of importance.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in related discipline.
  • Minimum of seven years of relevant work experience, including legislative, agency, trade association, corporate, and/or other government relations experience in Arizona or Texas for the Arizona-based position.
  • Healthcare issue background experience, preferred.
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
