About the Role

Nordic Ware is seeking a highly motivated Material Handler/Forklift Operator to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse and production processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate forklift trucks, elevators, and hand lifts to move materials and products throughout the facility, following all safety protocols.
  • Complete and verify movement tags and daily production cards, ensuring accurate counts and records.
  • Work closely with the Inventory Control Specialist to ensure accurate inventory levels and efficient material flow.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation, including recharging forklifts and other related duties.
  • Receive and ship department materials, minimizing downtime on production lines and assisting group leaders as needed.
  • Load/unload materials on or off machines, participate in 5S activities to maintain a safe and organized work environment, and work with other departments to ensure proper material flow.
  • Follow all safety rules at all times and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 6 months experience with scan guns and bar codes.
  • Minimum 6 months forklift driving experience.
  • The ability to read, write, and understand English at a 6th grade level.
  • Comfortable moving pallets weighing up to 3,000 pounds.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and the ability to use a calculator.
  • Strong detail orientation and organizational skills.
  • Able to operate material handling equipment, including a forklift.
  • Ability to meet Northland's licensing requirements to operate a forklift.
  • Must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willing to work overtime periodically.
  • Must be able to consistently maintain a reliable record of attendance and punctuality.
  • Experience with Epicor preferred.
