- Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide necessary assistance and information to patients regarding medical procedures and benefits, including co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses.
- Address patient complaints and concerns, ensuring patient satisfaction and loyalty.
- Perform general administrative tasks, such as filing, photocopying, and faxing documents, with efficiency and accuracy.
- Educate patients on insurance coverage and benefits, including financial assistant programs, to ensure informed decision-making.
- Proven work experience as a Patient Benefit Representative or similar role in a healthcare setting (2 years).
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare procedures, with the ability to communicate complex information to patients.
- Proficiency in using healthcare management software and office equipment, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in healthcare administration is a plus.
- Knowledge of CPT Coding and HCPS Coding Application, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in computer systems such as Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn new software quickly.
- Experience educating patients on financial coverages and plans, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
- Experience with medical electronic systems such as Athena IDX (health billing system) or G2 Iknowmed (EMR).
- Bilingual (Spanish), with the ability to communicate effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds.
