Part-time position on day shifts
Role Summary
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Ensures the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors; initiates necessary investigations and follows through. Safeguards the facilities, assets, and grounds as designated.
WORK HOURS: 20 hours/week
Week #1: Sunday/Monday 3pm-11pm
Week #2: Sunday/Monday/Tuesday 3pm-11pm
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Qualified candidates must possess the capability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to execute the following tasks:
- Conduct patrols of designated areas, overseeing the facility and activities to maintain a secure environment for patients, visitors, and personnel.
- Participate in daily pre-shift and post-shift briefings to stay informed about recent security events and incidents. Engage actively in this information exchange at the start and end of each shift.
- Maintain a detailed daily activity log documenting security responses and occurrences during the shift.
- Address requests for security assistance to manage emergency situations, investigate suspicious behavior, de-escalate tense situations, and take appropriate actions as directed by supervisory personnel.
- Investigate, document, and resolve security-related incidents. Report any misuse of hospital property or equipment to the appropriate authorities. Keep comprehensive records, notes, incident reports, and other documentation related to security activities.
- Respond to all specialized alarms and emergency codes as required.
- Perform regular security audits of Lancaster General properties and grounds during off-hours.
- Monitor all hospital premises, grounds, and parking areas for security issues and potential safety risks.
- Oversee all parking facilities and manage traffic flow on Lancaster General property.
- Provide constructive feedback to Security Supervisors and management on ways to enhance the security operations.
- Engage in crime prevention initiatives collaboratively to proactively address security concerns before they arise.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety Basic Certification Program within one (1) year of employment.
- Valid State driver's license required.
- Completion of PPCI PATH, OCAT, and Defensive Tactics training within six (6) months of employment.
- Completion of Crisis Prevention Institution (CPI) Level 4 - Advanced Physical Skills training within six (6) months of employment.
- Basic CPR/AED certification required within six (6) months of employment.
- Ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of individuals from various backgrounds.
- Capability to work efficiently within a team setting.
- Proficient in reading various materials, including books, manuals, and guidelines.
- Ability to compose memoranda, reports, and essays using correct format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
- Ability to communicate clearly with appropriate emphasis and pronunciation, utilizing various tenses.
