Job Title: Pharmacy Technician - Per Diem

At AmerisourceBergen Pharmaceutical Distribution and Strategic Global Sourcing, we are seeking a qualified Per Diem Pharmacy Technician to join our team in an outpatient retail pharmacy, servicing Novartis employees, contractors, and family members.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to work on a per diem basis in our Ambulatory Pharmacy. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating patient profiles, entering prescription information, and addressing insurance and reimbursement issues.

Responsibilities:
  • Create patient profiles in the pharmacy information system
  • Enter prescription information and process patient prescriptions
  • Address insurance and reimbursement issues with insurance providers, patients, and pharmacists
  • Participate in achieving business goals and metrics for the Ambulatory Pharmacy
  • Retrieve and prepare medication for pharmacist review and verification
  • Prepare inventory reports for pharmacist review and purchase
  • Submit, receive, and place inventory in stock
  • Answer inbound telephone calls and triage calls to the appropriate staff
  • Assist with the review and handling of adjudicated prescription claims
  • Assist pharmacists with therapeutic consults and intervene with Pharmacy Benefit Manager Companies to resolve plan and patient-specific adjudication issues
  • Supply and monitor ambulatory dispensing robotic technology
  • Deliver medications and pharmaceutical supplies to patients as outlined by the concierge prescription program
Requirements:
  • Normally requires a minimum of two (2) years directly related and progressively responsible ambulatory pharmacy experience
  • Pharmacy technician certification with a national technical certification organization, such as Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or other comparable national certification required
  • State pharmacy certification is acceptable if core competencies are equal to or better than national certification requirements
