Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Provider Credentialing Coordinator plays a vital role in the credentialing process for healthcare professionals, ensuring compliance and fostering relationships with Medical Staff offices. This position reports directly to the director and is focused on expediting the credentialing of providers with precision and thoroughness. This is a full-time remote opportunity available for candidates in the eastern or central time zones.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the credentialing and recredentialing processes for healthcare providers with various hospitals.
  • Conduct primary source verification for both initial credentialing and recredentialing efforts.
  • Maintain and update the credentialing database and associated documentation.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to gather necessary data, documents, and signatures promptly and securely.
  • Engage regularly with Medical Staff offices to monitor the progress of credentialing files through each hospital's procedures.
  • During the initiation of new program contracts or staffing model changes, provide updates on credentialing progress and challenges during implementation meetings.
  • Assist providers in navigating the documentation collection process and help resolve any outstanding issues related to their credentialing files.
  • Track expiration dates and ensure that updated documentation is provided to Medical Staff offices, while also uploading new documents into the credentialing system.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned or required.
  • Facilitate discovery sessions with Medical Staff offices to document and understand the credentialing processes of new hospitals, including file processing, committee meeting schedules, fee acceptance methods, and terminology used to indicate readiness for committee review.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and an associate's degree in health services administration or a related discipline.
  • Certification as a Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Credentialing Specialist (CCS).
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in the credentialing of physicians for hospitals.
  • Proficient in standard office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, Outlook, and credentialing software).
  • Ability to foster effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with physicians and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy in completing tasks.
  • Capable of independently planning, organizing, and prioritizing workload.

Physical Requirements:

  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
