Job Summary

The Certified Surgical Assistant will assist the surgeon in the performance of approved surgical procedures, working under the direct supervision of the operating surgeon. This role requires a high level of skill and attention to detail, with a focus on providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the surgeon in the operating room, ensuring a safe and efficient surgical environment
  • Prepare and maintain surgical instruments and equipment
  • Monitor and maintain patient safety and well-being during procedures
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure seamless communication and coordination
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of a Surgical Tech First Assistant or Certified Surgical Assistant Program required
  • Must receive certification as a Certified Surgical Assistant Certification (CSA) through the NCCSA, or Certified Surgical First Assistant Certification (CSFA) through the NBSTSA within two years of completing first assistant course required
  • 2 years of relevant experience; Surgical assisting experience required
  • Certified (CST) - AST Association of Surgical Technologist Upon Hire Preferred
  • Certified (CST) - ABSA American Board of Surgical Assistants Upon Hire Preferred
  • Certified (CST) - NBSTSA National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Upon Hire Preferred
  • Certified (CSFA) - NBSTSA National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting within 2 years Required Or
  • Certified (CSA) - NCCSA National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants within 2 years Required
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Upon Hire Required
  • AHA ACLS Adv Cardiovascular Life Support Upon Hire Preferred
