Job Title: Controls Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer to join our team at Tolin Mechanical Systems. As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining building automation systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Program and configure building automation systems using Niagara N4 and Honeywell Spyder Classic/5/7, CIPer and Optimizer controllers
  • Commission new and retrofitted control systems to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with existing control systems to identify and resolve problems
  • Develop user-friendly customer interfaces (graphics) to enhance system usability and efficiency
  • Assist with project layout, engineering, and design to ensure accurate and efficient system implementation
  • Interpret mechanical and controls drawings, sequences, and design intent to ensure accurate system implementation
  • Develop sequences of operation in retrofit applications and identify deficiencies in engineered sequences
  • Provide quality as-built notes to ensure accurate system documentation
  • Identify additional controls opportunities and deficiencies to optimize system performance
  • Assist with sales efforts on technically complex or sensitive project opportunities
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of continuous Niagara N4 use
  • 10+ years of HVAC controls experience
  • Extensive custom programming experience of N4 (including Kit Control) and Honeywell Spyders
  • Experience troubleshooting new and existing electrical controls circuits and devices
  • Experience with engineering controls solutions and providing detailed as-built notes
  • Extensive technical knowledge of HVAC systems (pressure dependent/independent VAV, chilled and hot water, various terminal air units, specialty equipment etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop rapport and productive working relationships with clients, vendors, and co-workers
