Job Summary

The Financial Management & Administration Department at Johnson County Kansas is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of our countywide financial operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research, evaluate, recommend, test, and implement new Oracle/ERP initiatives, including moving to Cloud-based services and other countywide financial systems.
  • Perform system setups, testing, training, and development, as well as maintenance of process documentation.
  • Ensure the integrity of countywide financial operations by analyzing and monitoring financial activities, expenditures, budgets, and program performance.
  • Assist departments with the development and preparation of financial reports, dashboards, and metrics.
  • Provide accurate and timely information at year-end to assist in the completion of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), Single Audit Report, DCF Audit Report, and the supporting auditor's workpapers.
  • Process, prepare, and analyze accurate financial information in an efficient and thoroughly documented manner.
  • Define, implement, audit, and monitor internal controls to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and minimize the risk of fraud within County departments.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Public Administration, or related field.
  • Five years of experience in Accounting, Finance, Business, Public Administration, or related area.
  • Oracle, public sector, fund accounting, and software implementation experience preferred.
