Job Summary

This is a developmental position designed to promote the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform at the journeyman Auditor level in the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA).

Key Responsibilities

Assist in researching laws, regulations, operating instructions, and functional and program documents to acquire knowledge of the IRS activity being audited.

Obtain a working knowledge of laws, regulations, operating instructions, functional and program documents related to the IRS activity being audited.

Assist in the verification of reports against source accounts and records to determine data reliability and accuracy of computations.

Assist in tracing items through accounts and from records to source documents.

Requirements

Must meet the definition of a STUDENT for the duration of your appointment as follows: An individual accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree (high school, college (4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate) in a qualifying and accredited educational institution, on a full or half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled), including awardees of the Harry S. Truman Foundation Scholarship Program under Public Law Students need not be in actual physical attendance, so long as all other requirements are met.

Must maintain good academic standing with an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Working Conditions

Positions will be filled within the Central Region of TIGTA, which includes the following duty locations: Austin, TX; Cincinnati, OH; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; Kansas City, MO; Memphis, TN. Applicants are limited to 3 duty locations.
