Highway Maintenance Technician

This position is responsible for performing maintenance activities on roadway assets and adjacent properties, exercising independent judgment, and promoting safe work habits. The ideal candidate will have a clean DMV record and a valid FL Driver's License.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and record maintenance needs
- Inspect completed work
- Participate in training
- Perform maintenance activities on roadway assets
- Check complaints on roads and inspect highways
- Assist with operations during emergencies
- Perform routine traffic control functions
- Operate medium-duty equipment
- Perform physically demanding manual labor
- Comply with safety regulations
- Complete vehicle pre/post trip inspections
- Report safety issues
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance
- Verify loads and equipment
- Assist with right of way maintenance activities
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Ability to work nights and weekends
- Valid FL Driver's License and DOT acceptable driving record
- Random drug screening
- Certified in DOT Work Zone Safety
- High School Graduate or Equivalent preferred
- Company Safety Training
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to carry equipment
This position works in a variety of environments, including outdoors in all types of weather and directly on and near busy roadways.
