Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing maintenance activities on roadway assets and adjacent properties, exercising independent judgment, and promoting safe work habits. The ideal candidate will have a clean DMV record and a valid FL Driver's License.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and record maintenance needs
  • Inspect completed work
  • Participate in training
  • Perform maintenance activities on roadway assets
  • Check complaints on roads and inspect highways
  • Assist with operations during emergencies
  • Perform routine traffic control functions
  • Operate medium-duty equipment
  • Perform physically demanding manual labor
  • Comply with safety regulations
  • Complete vehicle pre/post trip inspections
  • Report safety issues
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance
  • Verify loads and equipment
  • Assist with right of way maintenance activities
Requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work nights and weekends
  • Valid FL Driver's License and DOT acceptable driving record
  • Random drug screening
Education and Training
  • Certified in DOT Work Zone Safety
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent preferred
  • Company Safety Training
Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to carry equipment
Work Environment

This position works in a variety of environments, including outdoors in all types of weather and directly on and near busy roadways.
