Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Manager to lead our Harvard, IL animal nutrition location. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, successful, and progressive day-to-day operational activities of the Harvard PetDine pet treat plant.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in leadership and operations management, with a proven track record of delivering business objectives and driving continuous improvement processes. You will be responsible for maintaining compliance with company policies, government regulations, and regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, DNR, FDA, USDA, FRA, HACCP, etc.).
The facility blends, mixes, extrudes, bakes, packages, and warehouses various raw materials into animal treats with approximately 400 ADM-PetDine and temporary colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure all employees, visitors, vendors, and contractors understand and align with ADM's safety policies and procedures.
- Require safety and compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations, including lockout/tagout, hot work, confined spaces, and working at heights.
- Work closely with Food Safety and Quality personnel to ensure continuous audit readiness in a Food Safety plant.
- Utilize assets efficiently to meet production and quality goals.
- Lead site in establishing policies, procedures, and plant priorities.
- Lead plant operations in a manner that results in a cohesive, focused, positive climate to achieve organizational goals, driving high employee engagement and morale.
- Provide mentorship to department superintendents and engineers to achieve short-term and long-term department performance through the use of KPIs, continuous improvement, and Performance Excellence concepts.
- Embrace an owner's mentality by managing costs and continuously focusing on efficiency improvement.
- Ensure training and development of all plant employees.
- Provide mentorship, accountability, and disciplinary support as necessary.
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in Science, Continuous Improvement, Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a similar area of concentration.
- 5+ years of experience leading a production environment in food, pet food processing, or a similar industry.
- Excellent leadership ability, including a vision for strategic direction, delegation, and leading others in work execution.
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and Food Safety Standards is vital.
- Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Proven track record as a phenomenal teammate.
- High energy level and clear customer focus emphasis.
- Ability to prioritize workload.
- Make decisions in a fair and professional manner.
- Possess the ability to climb stairs, lift up to 55 lbs, prolonged periods of standing and sitting, computer work, providing calculated information, working from heights, bending, kneeling, working adjusted hours, and in various climates.
Preferred Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience leading a production environment in food, pet food processing, or a similar industry.
- Continuous Improvement leadership and application of CI processes in a production environment.
- Demonstrated scale-up experience and/or new technology development experience in a production environment.
- Knowledge of multiple processes and unit operations in a full-scale production plant, not limited to mixers, blenders, extruders, SURP, and jar packaging system, and finished goods warehousing applications.
