Water Treatment Plant Operator

This is a challenging opportunity to work as a Water Plant Operator in a dynamic environment. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our water treatment plant.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain water treatment plant equipment, including pumps, valves, and motors.
- Monitor and control water quality, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on plant equipment, as needed.
- Collaborate with other team members to achieve plant goals and objectives.
- High School diploma or equivalent required; technical college coursework or degree in chemistry, environmental sciences, or civil engineering preferred.
- Knowledge of water purification processes, basic scientific concepts, and water quality standards.
- Ability to obtain Waterworks Operators Certificate (Plant Specific) within one to three years, depending on class.
- Must adhere to company policies regarding mandatory shift coverage when required.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse groups.
- Mathematical skills sufficient to calculate dosages, surface areas, volumes, weights, measures, and algebraic formulas.
- Mechanical ability sufficient to operate and maintain plant equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on safety and quality.
- Physical fitness, with the ability to lift and/or carry 50 lbs. or more on a frequent basis.
- Ability to work in confined areas and wear a respirator, as needed.
- Ability to respond to 24/7 callouts, as required.
- Waterworks Operator's Certification in an appropriate class is desirable.
- Experience with technically advanced computer control systems (SCADA) and advanced coagulant control using zeta meter is preferred.
- Previous employment in water treatment, hydrology, or related environmental science, civil or environmental engineering, or analytical experience is preferred.
